After an investor screws the guys out of a huge order from their new startup company, Jason Bateman, Jason Sudeikis, and Charlie Day kidnap his son so they can ransom him back for the half million dollars it would take to get their company back.

"Penguins of Madagascar" (PG)
The four penguins from the "Madagascar" movies team up with a covert interspecies task force to stop a madman from destroying the world. Benedict Cumberbatch is the wolf leading the task force and John Malkovich is the voice of the villain.

There's a YouTube video making the rounds of a cute little kid who wants to invite MIRANDA LAMBERT to his 4th birthday party, but he repeatedly screws up her name.

"Dumb and Dumber To" (PG-13)
Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey are back as Harry and Lloyd. Apparently, Lloyd's been faking a mental illness for the past 20 years and Harry finds out that he had a daughter with Kathleen Turner that he never knew about.

"Beyond the Lights" (PG-13)
This one almost feels like an updated version of "The Bodyguard". British actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw plays an R&B singer who falls in love with a cop assigned to her protection detail . . . after he saves her life when she tries to jump off her balcony.

1. "Die Hard". Obviously it's an action movie first, but it's also a Christmas movie.

2. "Gremlins". Remember, Gizmo is given as a Christmas gift. And even though the movie has a sense of humor, people die.

3. "Bad Santa". Billy Bob Thornton plays a drunk department store Santa who moonlights as a burglar. And Lauren Graham plays a woman with a Santa fetish.

4. "Jack Frost". A week before Christmas, a serial killer named Jack Frost gets turned into a snowman after coming into contact with some kind of genetic material.

5. "The Family Man". Nicolas Cage dumps his girlfriend Tea Leoni, and they both go on to become rich, successful and single. But one Christmas, an angel gives Nic a "glimpse" of what his life would have been like if they'd stayed together.

6. "Black Christmas". Sorority girls getting killed. Ho Ho Ho.

7. "Home Alone". Macauley Culkin is so neglected, his family gets to the airport to start their holiday vacation without realizing he's not there . . . and he devises cruel, "Saw"-like traps to fend off burglars.

8. "It's a Wonderful Life". Despite being possibly the sweetest, most generous man on the planet, George Bailey's life is one tragedy after another. It's no wonder he's suicidal.

9. "Rare Exports". Reindeer herders in Finland uncover the true inspiration for Santa Claus . . . an ancient creature who punishes bad children. Not to mention his naked, demented "elves". (This movie ROCKS. Check it out, if you can handle subtitles.)

10. "Batman Returns". Kind of like "Die Hard", people don't necessarily think of it as a Christmas movie. But it takes place at Christmas, and decorations are even used as weapons. If you haven't seen it, that's the one with Danny DeVito as the Penguin, Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman, and Michael Keaton as Batman.
