Your Hometown Country Connection

JD's Blog, a place where sight and sound have no meaning, where time and space are illusions, and where a DJ  air personality posts his slightly off-kilter take on this, that, and the other thing.
I've loved radio since I was a kid and consider myself extremely lucky to get paid to do it. I'm a 2002 graduate of the DC campus of the Connecticut School of Broadcasting, I play several musical instruments and write books for fun. And I'm a huge fan of the Philly teams: the Phillies, Eagles, Flyers and Sixers.

Daylight Savings Time, A Mistake or just a Bad Idea?

I've never understood Daylight Savings Time. I mean, I get it in the general's there to provide more sunlight during the day. The sun goes down later, subjectively speaking. But I just don't see the point. Since sunset occurs later and later anyway, why adjust the clocks? Even if we didn't the same result would occur, with the only difference being that the sun would set at 8 in July rather than 9, I don't see that as being a big difference, and it would spare me from having to look at half the clocks in my home and mentally adjust for the correct time because I'm too lazy to change them. The time on my phone and my cable box adjust automatcally. The others will, I'm sure, continue to be an hour off until the fall. Unless, in a fit of activity, I decide to change them. The odda on that are 50-50. There have been years in which I actually did change the time, and there have been years when I didn't bother and they were wrong for six months. I guess we'll see.
