Your Hometown Country Connection

Katy

Hey Tri-State! I wanted to first thank everyone for all the support over the last few years. Working at WAYZ has been an awesome experience and it is mainly because of you. A little about me? Well, I am from Reading, Pa and went to York College to earn my degree in Speech Communication. I am in a sorority, Delta Phi Epsilon, and my sisters have had a huge impact on my life. I have great friends and an even better family. My younger brother David is my best friend and I am so blessed to have such a great sibling. I rescued a 3 legged cat, named Uno, who makes me smile everyday. I have always been a very upbeat, annoying girl who always has a smile on her face. Lastly, I couldn’t imagine working so closely with anyone other than Tiny. Tiny has become one of my greatest friends and I am so glad we got paired up to try and make your mornings a little brighter!  I have always loved radio and microphones and I am so lucky that now I get paid to talk on one. It’s fantastic! Feel free to email me katy@wayz.com at anytime with requests, stories…anything! Thanks again for making my job the best job in the world.

Luke Bryan has been named "People" magazine's sexiest man in country music.  I could not agree more with this decision.  While I think there were other great contenders, Luke has a smile (and body) that melts my heart!  No one looks better in tight pants than Luke Bryan!

My man Denzel is back on the big screen with his new movie, "The Equalizer."  It looks like your typical Denzel movie, but I also think it has a similar premise to "Man on Fire," which is my favorite Denzel movie.  You can expect to see this movie in theaters in September!!  September also happens to be my birthday month; coincidence?  I think not!

Jennifer Nettles tweeted a photo of herself on her way to the "American Idol" finale, and all I can say is "Wow!"  She looks incredible.  Jennifer has always been a gorgeous woman, but this is the best photo of her I haveever seen.

Last night was a big night for TV fans; "Dancing with the Stars" and "The Voice" announced their winners.  Congratulations go out to Josh Kaufman and Olympic gold medal-winning figure skater Meryl Davis, along with her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy, for picking up wins.  Josh Kaufman, on team Usher, took home the win for "The Voice," and Meryl had the best moves on "Dancing with the Stars."

I'm sure by now you have seen this viral video.  A cat saves a young boy who was being attacked by the neighbor's dog.  It's amazing!  I only hope Uno would do this for me.

The director of "Batman vs. Superman," Zach Snyder, tweeted the first picture of Batman, played by Ben Affleck.  There are a few changes: the ears are a little shorter and the bat symbol is larger.  Of course, people are already criticizing, but I think it looks good!  Thoughts?

We shared a VERY big secret this morning with you.  If you ever play rock-paper-sissors to settle anything, here's the key to winning:

Scientists in Zhejiang University in China just had a BREAKTHROUGH discovery on the psychology behind rock-paper-scissors.  Here's what they found . . .

1.  When a person's turn is successful, they'll most likely stick with what they chose for their next turn.  So if they beat you with rock, they'll probably try rock again the next turn.

2.  But if the person's turn ISN'T successful, they'll usually switch to whatever BEAT them.  So if they throw rock and lose to your paper, they'll switch to paper on their next turn, since paper beat them.

The researchers say that switch is a CONDITIONAL RESPONSE . . . it's something we do instinctively, even if we think we're just picking randomly.
