I knew it was going to be hard to say goodbye but, as my final day at WAYZ approaches I am finding that a simple seven letter word is turning out to be much more difficult than I could ever have imagined.
They say that if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life. With the exception of those two weeks I spent scrubbing tubs at a bath house, I have truly never worked. I've waited tables, sang with a band (Possum Holler), mastered the art of the curly q on an ice cream cone and, I've loved everything about working at 104.7 WAYZ; meeting people, making friends, talkin' and playin' music for a living. What an amazing opportunity. Everyone should be so lucky.
When I sign off on Friday, I'll tuck my headphones away and, find a place on my sofa with a good book and lots of blankets. I am hoping to experience some healing of sorts; gaining strength and, perhaps a few pounds. Part of me thinks that my battle against scleroderma is just beginning. Am I just a little bit frightened? Yes, I am. Maybe more than a little; but, I am armed with faith and hope. I am ready to rage against this rare, killer disease. And, that is just one more great opportunity.
I take with me many cherished moments and will hold so many of you in my heart forever. Thank you for being a part of my journey. And remember~
To the world you might be just one person but, to one person, you might be the world. Wishin' ya blue skies and happy trails.
