Ruritan National has nearly 30,000 members throughout the United States. Since the organization’s beginning in 1928, Ruritan Clubs have served America with Fellowship, Goodwill, and Community Service. Ruritan is a civic service organization made up of local clubs in urban areas, small towns and rural communities
Ruritan’s purpose is to make America’s communities better places to live and work. The slogan of Ruritan is “Fellowship, Goodwill and Community Service.” Club membership represents a cross-section of the community in which the club serves, and is not restrictive with regard to occupation, social position, or any other specific criteria.
The Wolfsville Ruritan Club was chartered in 1957 and serves Wolfsville/Smithsburg/Myersville and surrounding communities. They have monthly fundraisers that bring the community together and all money raised is sent right back into the community. They help fund field trips for local elementary schools, donate to neighboring fire companies and churches, and assist with other community needs. They also provide a facility that is available for rent, a park and a playground for the community to use.
