Here is an article I stumbled across regarding American foods disliked by foreigners
. Some of them I knew about already, like peanut butter and jelly. To be honest I don't care much for jelly myself... I prefer my peanut butter sandwiches be all peanut butter, but hey, that's my opinion. I'll spread some grape jelly on my toast on occasion, but other than that I have little use for it.
But biscuits and gravy, well that's a whole other story. Being from Philly, I didn't get much (or any) exposure to Southern foods in my home. I discovered biscuits and gravy as an adult, and let me tell you, I love it. Grits, too. I had grits for the first time only a few years back, and it left me feeling empty and sorrowful for having missed out on it my whole life.
A few others baffled me, though. I've heard before from Europeans that American bread tastes sweet. I really don't understand that. Maybe because I grew up with it. But it doesn't taste sweet to me.
