"The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" (PG-13)
The third and final movie in the "Hobbit" trilogy, "The Battle of the Five Armies", is about the one-armed orc's final confrontation with Thorin Oakenshield, and the battle to defend the mountain and the dragon's unguarded treasure.

"Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb" (PG)
The magic in the tablet that brings the museum to life is failing, so Ben Stiller and Pharaoh Ahkmenrah take it to a museum in England to see if the tablet's creator, the pharaoh's dad, can keep the magic from dying out. He's played by Ben Kingsley.

"Annie" (PG)
Cameron Diaz is the alcoholic running Annie's foster home, Quvenzhané Wallis is your new street-smart Annie, and Jamie Foxx plays her rich benefactor. But instead of calling him Daddy Warbucks, they use a less ridiculous-sounding name: Will Stacks.

On December 25th . . . "Into the Woods" (PG) . . . James Corden and Emily Blunt star in this musical about a couple whose wish for a child of their own leads them on a quest to collect four spell ingredients for a witch played by Meryl Streep.

On December 25th . . . "Unbroken" (PG-13) . . . Jack O'Connell stars in the true story of Olympic runner Louis Zamperini, who survived being beaten and tortured as a Japanese P.O.W. during World War II. It's directed by Angelina Jolie.

On December 25th . . . "Big Eyes" (PG-13) . . . Amy Adams plays the wife of one of the most successful painters of the 1950s . . . a FRAUD who took credit for paintings she did. Christoph Waltz plays her husband and Tim Burton is the director.

On December 25th . . . "The Gambler" (R) . . . Mark Wahlberg plays a guy with a gambling problem who borrows money from a loan shark and offers his own life as collateral. Brie Larson, John Goodman, and Jessica Lange are also in it.

"Exodus: Gods and Kings" (PG-13)
Joel Edgerton plays pharaoh Ramses the Second. He goes from being raised as a brother to Moses . . . to being a jealous rival for their father's favor . . . and sworn enemy once Moses returns from exile to turn his own people against him.

"Top Five" (R)
Chris Rock wrote, directed, and stars in this movie about a guy who gave up comedy to star in movies that are getting slammed by the critics. It also stars Rosario Dawson as a "New York Times" reporter following him around to cover his latest effort to be taken seriously . . . and his impending wedding to a reality star played by Gabrielle Union.

"Inherent Vice" (R) (Limited) Opening nationwide January 9th.
Joaquin Phoenix and a set of fake '70s sideburns play a private investigator asked by his ex-girlfriend to stop a plot to kidnap her rich boyfriend and lock him in the looney bin. Eric Roberts is the intended target, Josh Brolin is a cop who gets involved once he goes missing, and Reese Witherspoon plays a Deputy D.A. Owen Wilson, Benicio del Toro, and Jena Malone from "The Hunger Games" movies are also in it.

The following is not a country song. I repeat, not a country song . . . although it tries to be. It's a video called "Stand with Hillary", and it was produced by a Democratic political action committee hoping to get voters excited about HILLARY CLINTON for President in 2016. And I'm hoping Hillary did not approve that message.

"Life Partners" (R)
Leighton Meester plays a lesbian who's been codependent on her straight best friend for too many years. And she feels completely abandoned when a MAN takes her place. Gillian Jacobs from "Community" plays her straight best friend, and Adam Brody from "The O.C." is the guy who comes between them . . . he's actually married to Leighton in real life.

"Comet" (R)
Emmy Rossum and Justin Long play a couple whose six year relationship is told in a series of five surreal flashbacks. It's filmed out of sequence in a way that leaves you wondering if they're memories, or glimpses of a parallel universe.
