Your Hometown Country Connection

Night time is the right time!
I've been a night person all my life and this is the first time anyone's appreciated it! I was born in Philadelphia and lived many years in the Baltimore area. I've loved radio since I was a kid and consider myself extremely lucky to do it for a living. I'm a 2002 graduate of the DC campus of the Connecticut School of Broadcasting, I'm a writer, musician and cartoonist in my free time. And I'm a huge fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, Eagles, Flyers and Sixers as well as the Maryland Terrapins.

43-year-old David Greaves of Lancashire, England broke into a pub last month, stole two cash registers and two TVs . . . then put them outside in his car while he went back inside to steal more stuff. And while he was getting his second load . . . someone broke into his car and stole the stuff HE'D just stolen from the bar. The police say the security cameras showed, quote, "confusion on [David's] face" when he got back out to his car. David just pleaded guilty to one count of burglary.  He got a suspended sentence and probation.  The police haven't caught the guys who robbed him.

35-year-old Yi Fu of Chengdu, China weighs at least 265 pounds . . . and it's not muscle.  Unfortunately for him, his delicious chubbiness is pretty bad for his attempted career as a cat burglar. Yi broke into an apartment complex to rob the place earlier this week . . . but some people woke up and started chasing him.  He ran to the elevator, but it was broken, so he tried to escape by climbing through a narrow shaft in the ceiling. And you can see where this is going.  Yi got STUCK halfway in . . . his head and torso were in the shaft, his legs were dangling out. He was stuck for EIGHT HOURS before firefighters could get him free.  And once he was finally out of the shaft, he was arrested.

There's a reporter in San Francisco who does a segment called "People Behaving Badly", which is all about local people acting like idiots. And recently, he and a cameraman were set up at one end of the Golden Gate Bridge to show how bad people are at merging.  Which is a pretty LAME story to do, but it turned out to be worth it. Because while they were filming, a guy on a motorcycle missed his off-ramp, and used an ON-ramp as an exit. But when he noticed the camera crew filming him, he parked his bike, took of his helmet, and walked across two lanes of traffic to confront them.  Which caught the attention of some nearby police. So after he finished arguing with the reporter, the cops gave him a ticket, found out his registration was expired, and that he was driving on a suspended license. Of course, the camera crew stuck around to film THAT too.  Police also impounded the guy's bike, and he'll have to wait 30 days to get it back. You can view a screenshot from his on-camera rant on my Facebook page.

Robbing one bank is risky.  But you're really pressing your luck if you try what this guy did.  He also might be the worst bank robber EVER. On Saturday, a guy who looks to be in his 30's tried to rob a bank in New York.  But he somehow left empty handed.  So he tried to rob ANOTHER bank, but left empty handed AGAIN. And you've gotta at least give him points for perseverance.  Because then he went to a THIRD bank, and made off with fifty bucks.  Which isn't much when you're risking significant JAIL TIME.  So he decided to rob a FOURTH bank. He didn't get any money from that one either, so with $50 in his pocket, he robbed a FIFTH bank, where a teller gave him $399.  Just to recap, that's five banks . . . for a total of 449 bucks. Police are still looking for him.  But there's a clear shot of his face, so they'll probably get him eventually. For a look at the photo go to my Facebook page.

There is only one now. Once it is gone, it will be then. What is now then was once now. Tomorrow is nothing more than a today waiting for its turn. Yesterday was today for 24 hours. Next week will be last week the week after that. Next year is but a fantasy, a dream we will eventually wake from.

The grass is green, as can easily be seen.

The sky is blue, but that's not news to you.

The sun it shines and sometimes blinds.

The wind may gust but it is just.

The rain will fall upon us all.

I refer of course to a thing called spring.
