Your Hometown Country Connection

Hey Tri-State! I wanted to first thank everyone for all the support over the last few years. Working at WAYZ has been an awesome experience and it is mainly because of you. A little about me? Well, I am from Reading, Pa and went to York College to earn my degree in Speech Communication. I am in a sorority, Delta Phi Epsilon, and my sisters have had a huge impact on my life. I have great friends and an even better family. My younger brother David is my best friend and I am so blessed to have such a great sibling. I rescued a 3 legged cat, named Uno, who makes me smile everyday. I have always been a very upbeat, annoying girl who always has a smile on her face. Lastly, I couldn’t imagine working so closely with anyone other than Tiny. Tiny has become one of my greatest friends and I am so glad we got paired up to try and make your mornings a little brighter!  I have always loved radio and microphones and I am so lucky that now I get paid to talk on one. It’s fantastic! Feel free to email me at anytime with requests, stories…anything! Thanks again for making my job the best job in the world.

I told Tiny this story on the air today and I could not believe he had no idea what I was talking about.  So, in case you're not in the loop....
We certainly should have seen this coming:  GRUMPY CAT is getting her own movie. You've all seen Grumpy Cat by now.  She's basically just a cat who looks grumpy . . . but after her owner's brother posted pictures of her online last September, she became one of the most popular Internet memes of all time.

Her real name is Tardar Sauce, by the way, and her owner says her interesting facial expression is due to FELINE DWARFISM and an underbite.

The company that's producing the movie says it'll be in the vein of "Garfield" . . . quote, "We think we can build a big family comedy around this character."

We shared the story on the air about a woman in Roanoke, VA who is collecting bed sheets to send to Afghanistan for the troops.  We had a lot of listeners call in and ask how they could help out this woman.  I sent her an email asking how the Tri-State can help out and this is what she sent me:
Hello Katy!

American's have such BIG HEARTS!!  I can not tell you how wonderful the response has been!
Thank you so much for your willingness and generosity!  We have maxed out, collecting over 100 sets of sheets!  Now we are packaging the items and preparing to ship them to the military APO unit.
We really need monetary donations to pay to ship the sheets.  We have 12 boxes!  If you could help, please send your donation to:

God Bless You for being willing to help :)

If you don't have Facebook, then you probably haven't been able to see the epic photo we've been discussing this week.  I am entering a contest to meet Jennifer Aniston and have my hair cut by her stylist. I have to tell a story regarding a bad hair day. Back in 2010, I used this scary strong gel and Tiny told me I looked like Nick Nolte's mug shot.  Do you think I have a shot at winning with this bad hair day?

You may have seen this video on Facebook, but this is truly amazing.  An Oklahoma tornado survivor, on national television, finds her dog buried alive.  It looks like he's ok and happy to be back with his owner.

If you've ever wanted to see MORGAN FREEMAN drunk on vodka and Red Bull, now's your chance.  Because that's what happens to him in a new movie called "Last Vegas", which comes out in November.  And it's pretty funny.
"Last Vegas" is kind of like a geriatric version of "The Hangover".  Morgan, ROBERT DE NIRO, MICHAEL DOUGLAS and KEVIN KLINE stars as four life-long friends who hit up Vegas to celebrate Douglas' character's upcoming marriage.

Looks fantastic!!

It's as if they read the minds of bacon lovers everywhere: Oscar Mayer on Monday introduced five new hot dogs, one of which has bacon cooked right into it.

"No one knows bacon like Oscar Mayer," Jared Baker, director of Oscar Mayer hot dogs, said in a statement. "We know Americans love bacon, and we know they love hot dogs, so it seemed like the perfect time for us to introduce our first hot dog made with bacon."

"It is hitting store shelves this week in time for Memorial Day," Sydney S. Lindner, associate director of corporate affairs at Kraft Foods, told Yahoo! Shine on Tuesday. They will be available throughout the United States.  Bacon lovers were overjoyed.

"Most everything is better with bacon on it!!" exclaimed David Ware on the company's Facebook page. "Sounds yummy need to go look for it."

"Oh noes! I'm trying to avoid processed meats and they invent this!?" Jennifer Bourne commented. "Well played, Oscar Meyer, well played…"  Others were simply thankful.

"I knew there was a God," quipped Facebook user Daniel Boone.

"This is the best thing I have ever seen," @xDRainbows Tweeted.

Some bacon fans had a few suggestions for ways Oscar Meyer could make a good idea even better.

"Bacon and cheese hot dogs would be awesome," Tammy Drury commented on Facebook.

True bacon aficionados were quick to notice that the new hot dogs aren't made entirely out of bacon; the ingredient list includes mechanically separated turkey, chicken, and pork as well as bacon pieces. The packaging promises no artificial colors, fillers, or by-products, but does disclose that additional smoke flavor is added.

Not counting the bun, Oscar Mayer's new bacon dogs clock in at 130 calories and have 11 grams of fat, 35 milligrams of cholesterol, and 270 milligrams of sodium each.

I just wanted to take a moment and say Happy Mother's Day to every mom in the Tri-State!  I hope your kids spoil you rotten this Mother's Day.

Also, wanted to say how much I love and admire my mommy.  She's my best friend and I love her to pieces.

Happy Mother's Day, Dukes.

The official video came out the other day for Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, and Keith Urban's song "The Highway Don't Care."  The video is really intense; it sends a very powerful message.  You can check it out here.  Let me know what you think.

I was not at all expecting to come home with a new (well, new to me) car yesterday.  I went to visit my boyfriend Jeff (who sells cars) at work and he told me about this really nice Subaru Legacy.  I LOVED my Jetta, but I was really racking up the miles on that car.  I drove the Legacy for 30 seconds and was in love with it.  I got a really good deal on it and took that bad boy home.  What do you think??  I am really excited to be part of the Subaru Family.  I hear nothing but good things about Subaru's.
