Your Hometown Country Connection

Hey Tri-State! I wanted to first thank everyone for all the support over the last few years. Working at WAYZ has been an awesome experience and it is mainly because of you. A little about me? Well, I am from Reading, Pa and went to York College to earn my degree in Speech Communication. I am in a sorority, Delta Phi Epsilon, and my sisters have had a huge impact on my life. I have great friends and an even better family. My younger brother David is my best friend and I am so blessed to have such a great sibling. I rescued a 3 legged cat, named Uno, who makes me smile everyday. I have always been a very upbeat, annoying girl who always has a smile on her face. Lastly, I couldn’t imagine working so closely with anyone other than Tiny. Tiny has become one of my greatest friends and I am so glad we got paired up to try and make your mornings a little brighter!  I have always loved radio and microphones and I am so lucky that now I get paid to talk on one. It’s fantastic! Feel free to email me at anytime with requests, stories…anything! Thanks again for making my job the best job in the world.

From the Quick-Me-Up yesterday:

There's a video making the rounds of a guy with severe Alzheimer's who's lost the ability to speak . . . except to the family DOGS.  In the video, it almost seems like he's back to normal when he's talking to one of them.  His daughter says she posted it to encourage people to spend more time with their parents while they still can.

You may have seen this video already, but a guy in Peru, Jared, attempts to take a selfie directly next to a passing train.  The conductor on the train puts his foot out and kicks him in the head.  The video has gone viral and it looks like Jared may be a raking in a big chunk of money.  Between YouTube ad revenue and companies wanting licensing deals, he could potentially get $250,000 for the video!  Pretty decent payout for such an idiotic move.  Check the video!

I read this on Taste Of County this morning and was so incredibly excited.  Check it out:

~~Carrie Underwood is multi-talented, and apparently is returning some attention to one of those many talents — songwriting. Between singing, performing, acting and CMA Awards hosting, it may be hard for the ‘American Idol’ winner to make time for songwriting.

According to a tweet by, the singer is making time to write songs “a lot lately” and she says “it’s going well!”

~~Underwood hasn’t released an album since 2012′s ‘Blown Away’ which featured her hit songs ‘Good Girl’ and ‘Blown Away’ and several songs she co-wrote. Underwood penned eight of the 14 songs on that album including ‘Two Black Cadillacs,’ ‘See You Again,’ ‘Cupid’s Got A Shotgun’ and ‘Wine After Whiskey.’ ‘Good Girl’ was the album’s breakout single, reaching No. 1 on the charts.

Underwood has also written songs that also haven’t appeared on her own albums. She wrote a song for ‘American Idol’ finalist Kristy Lee Cook‘s debut album ‘Why Wait.’ She also lent a songwriting hand for a movie soundtrack. She co-wrote and recorded ‘There’s A Place For Us’ for ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.’ It was the film’s lead single and even gave the singer and the other co-writers a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song.

With all that talent, the upcoming album is sure to be one fans won’t want to miss. Underwood’s songwriting skills combined with her singing talents should make a great follow-up to ‘Blown Away.’

Nobody LIKES to clean their bathroom.  So if guests are coming over and you're in a hurry, here are five ways to fake people into thinking it's spotless:
1.  Poor bleach in the toilet.  Give it a quick couple of scrubs, and then flush after five minutes.
 2.  Get a damp paper towel and hit any obvious smudges you see on the floor, sink or mirror.
 3.  Put out a couple of fresh hand towels.
 4.  Shake out your rug and fluff it up so it looks freshly vacuumed.
 5.  Protect yourself against snoopers.  Pull the shower curtain shut and tuck towels on top of stuff in your drawers in case they get opened.
