Your Hometown Country Connection

Nicole Williams

I am so thrilled to be in the area and get to learn more about you the listeners.  A few things about myself?  Here it goes.  I have been in the radio industry for around 15 years, which is hard to believe.  I began my career in Lynchburg, VA, continued in Radford, VA and now am proud to call myself a resident of PA.  My love for Country music runs deep.  If I could pick one song, which is absolutely a tough decision, I'd choose The Tin Man by Kenny Chesney.  I'm a lover of Billy Joel, America, the Virginia Tech Hokies and my dog Bingo.  It's a simple life, but it makes sense considering my affiliation with the best music on Earth.  I look forward to getting to know you and appreciate your continued support and love for all of us here at WAYZ.

Kenny, Keith, and Some "Monkey Business"

You probably know it's a tradition for headliners to give their opening acts a gift when the tour ends.  It's usually something cool, like when KENNY CHESNEY gave UNCLE KRACKER a vintage 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner.

It can also be weird, like when Kenny TRIED to give KEITH URBAN two monkeys.  His excuse is that Keith's fan club is called "Monkeyville" . . . but I'm wondering if he just thought it was a great opportunity to mess with him.

Kenny explains, quote, "I realized that you just can't go adopt one of these or buy one, it is a legal process, but I was going to buy two monkeys and I was going to have them in his bus when he got off stage the last night of the tour as a gift.

"But you just can't go buy a monkey, you know, it's like adopting a kid.  You have to go through . . . a long process, so we let that go."
