In today’s Honky Tonk Truth, Luke Combs’ wife gave him a unique birthday gift, Cody Johnson’s current single is now #1, and George Strait passed on this massive song.

  • Luke Combs celebrated his 34th birthday on Saturday and his wife gave him one special gift. Even though Luke has the world at his fingertips, getting him a gift might not be as hard as you think. He seemed pretty excited about the stuffed cowboy squirrel riding  pheasant his wife got him. It looks like something you’d find in a random country thrift store and its amazing.

  • Cody Johnson’s current single “The Painter” is now the #1 song on country radio. And talking with Cody he explained what song it reminds him of:

  • George Strait knows a hit when he hears one, the man has 60 #1 songs after all. But the biggest song he passed on might surprise you. George claims the biggest song he passed on recording was “Tennessee Whiskey” which was made famous by George Jones and then found new life with Chris Stapleton. Strait was pitched the song in the 80s by longtime collaborator Dean Dillion and ultimately passed on it.
