Speech Fasting??

There’s a thing called “speech-fasting,” where people try to avoid talking until noon. Not even whispering is allowed.

Of course, not everyone can get away with this . . . AND keep their job.  Or their partner.

The idea isn’t new . . . but it’s going viral now because a European singer has been posting about it on social media.  She’s a singer, so it makes more sense.  She says she’s trying to “take care of her instrument.”

But there’s also some science behind it.  One study in 2005 linked prolonged periods of silence with dramatically lowered blood pressure.

It can also help to reduce levels of the stress hormone cortisol.  And, in mice, it has been shown to promote brain growth.

How often do you speak at work??
