So this is something I don’t fully understand how it works, or even understand why we need it. But Toyota has been testing out “hitchless towing” where the lead vehicle could tow another without being physically connected.
Wireless towing doesn’t make sense to me at all, and I feel there is way more that could go wrong there. Toyota says a lot of the necessary features are already available on the latest Siennas.
Basically the vehicle that’s being “towed” will perfectly mimic the lead car. Accelerate at the same pace, turn at the same time etc…
So far they’ve been keeping a healthy distance between the cars but the goals to have them almost bumper to bumper.
