“CBS Evening News” did a big profile on a doctor in Nebraska, and a 10-year-old boy she adopted named True. He had heart surgery when he was five, and she was his anesthesiologist. Her name is Dr. Amy Beethe.
He was with social services in 2022 and was only five. He showed up to the Children’s Hospital all alone, so Amy stayed with him. Then even though they already had six kids, she and her husband Ryan adopted him 18 months later.
But it didn’t end there: Amy found out True had five siblings, and got all of them adopted too. Her sister adopted one of them . . . her sister-in-law adopted another . . . and a coworker adopted two more.
There was still one more kid left, True’s sister Laney. So Amy and Ryan stepped in and adopted her too.
